The sailing vessel “VIATOR” is fast and very comfortable under sail. Designed near the end of the old CCA rules by C&C, well known for their fast and comfortable boats. The design ensures a stable and comparatively dry boat that handles rough seas very well. The robust rod rigging and other oversized equipment provide good margins of safety. The easily driven hull is capable of fast speeds under sail (ten knots, plus) and these boats remain popular for club racing as well as fast passagemaking. The underbody has a modified fin keel that helps provide excellent upwind performance. Though the draft is 6' 3", the keel design allows the boat to be turned when grounded allowing easier return to deeper water.
This model is the Newport 41 Mark II and was constructed by Capitol Yachts in 1982. It has extensive upgrades and extra equipment. The much admired lines of this vessel are carried through to the interior with extensive teak and even leaded glass cabinet panels. The head and spacious separate shower make living aboard comfortable instead of a chore. Central reverse cycle air conditioning and heating provide climate control comfort.
